March Meeting Topic

You won’t want to miss our regular meeting on Wednesday, March 9th!

Bob Green will be presenting the value of positive critiquing, 6:00 – 6:30 PM social time and the meeting to begin at 6:30 PM Don’t forget your flash drive of 5 – 10 pictures for showing and critiquing.

Since the April meeting will be of a different format I encourage you to bring a name, your own or someone else, for nominations for the President and Vice-President’s position and for Program Chair Person, to this meeting. Election of new officers will be in May. Please give this some serious thought and make it a point to do your part in keeping the Photography Club “alive and well”

Also, the next club coffee will be Wednesday, March 23rd, 9:00 am at Dorothy’s.

February Meeting-Overland to the Arctic

The Pagosa Springs Photography Club will hold its February monthly meeting Wednesday evening, February 10, 2016 at the Pagosa Lodge (formerly Quality Resort, 3505 E. Hwy 160). Join us for socializing at 6:00 PM, followed by the program and short business meeting at 6:30 PM. The Photography Club normally meets the second Wednesday of each month year around at 6:00 PM at the Lodge.

The February program will be presented by local photographer Michael Rudd. Michael has been covering overland expeditions as a professional photojournalist for nearly 20 years. He will be discussing and sharing photos from a recent overland drive from Fairbanks, Alaska to the Beaufort Sea using the Cambridge Trans-America Expedition Land Rover from the original 1960 expedition. Members are encouraged to bring 15-20 photographs of recent photo opportunities on a flash drive or CD, for review and discussion following the presentation, time permitting.

Photography enthusiasts at all levels of ability are invited to attend Club meetings at no charge for the first meeting. If interested, you are invited to join for annual dues of $25 for individuals, $35 for a family membership, and $10 for a student membership.

January Photo Club Meeting

The Pagosa Springs Photography Club will hold its initial 2016 monthly meeting Wednesday evening, January 13, 2016 at the Pagosa Lodge (formerly Quality Resort, 3505 E. Hwy 160). Join us for socializing at 6:00 PM, followed by the program and short business meeting at 6:30 PM. The Photography Club normally meets the second Wednesday of each month year around at 6:00 PM at the Lodge.

The January program will be devoted to an appreciation of member’s work. Members are encouraged to bring 15-20 photographs of recent photo opportunities on a flash drive or CD, for review and discussion at the meeting.

September Meeting: Exploring Great Britain

The Pagosa Springs Photography Club will hold its regular monthly meeting Wednesday evening, September 9, 2015 at the Pagosa Lodge (formerly Quality Resort, 3505 E. Hwy 160). Join us for socializing at 6:00 PM, followed by the program and short business meeting at 6:30 PM.

The September Photo Club meeting will be presented by club member John Farley. John resides in Pagosa Springs and Santa Fe, N.M. His work has appeared at the Santa Fe Artist Market, the PhotoArts Santa Fe Photographer’s Market, the People’s Choice Art Show in Farmington, the Annual New Mexico Photographic Arts (ANMPAS) show, and the IMAGE New Mexico photography exhibit in Albuquerque. John’s presentation is entitled “Exploring Great Britain: From Devon to the Scottish Highlands.” Emphasis will be on landscape photography in the Dartmoor National Park in Devon, England and in the Highlands, as well as churches and cathedrals visited during his trip. Time permitting he will also show some of his best weather photos from 2015.

Members are also encouraged to bring 10 – 15 photographs on a flash drive or CD, for review and discussion following the program, as time permits.

August Photo Club Meeting

The Pagosa Springs Photography Club will hold its regular monthly meeting Wednesday evening, August 12, 2015 at the Pagosa Lodge (formerly Quality Resort, 3505 E. Hwy 160). Join us for socializing at 6:00 PM (drinks and appetizers are available for purchase), followed by the program and short business meeting at 6:30 PM. The Photography Club will continue to meet the second Wednesday of each month year around at 6:00 PM at the Pagosa Lodge.

The August Photo Club meeting will be presented by club member, Bill Woggon. He is the son of internationally famous comic book cartoonist Bill Woggon, creator of “Katy Keene”. Bill junior worked for his father and was an art major in college. It was in the early sixties that he purchased his first camera, a 35mm Pentax MX, and photography became his pen and brush and the focus of his art. His presentation is entitled “…shooting great pictures without being intimidated by the technical aspects of your camera”.

Members are also encouraged to bring 10 – 15 photographs on a flash drive or CD, for review and discussion following the program, as time permits.

July Photo Club Topic: Metal Prints

The Pagosa Springs Photography Club will hold its regular monthly meeting Wednesday evening, July 8, 2015 at the Quality Resort. Join us for socializing at 6:00 PM (drinks and appetizers are available for purchase), followed by the program and short business meeting at 6:30 PM. The Photography Club will continue to meet the second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM at the Quality Resort.

The July meeting will be presented by club member Joseph T. Sinclair. Joe will be speaking about metal prints, which he first saw at a photo exhibit in Napa, California. The metal prints seemed to make the colors and images really pop. Since then Joe has experimented with a dozen metal prints of his own, visited the photo service where metal prints were invented in California, and has made two non-experimental fine art metal prints that have turned out very well and are hanging in his home. He expects to do all his prints on metal in the future. Members are encouraged to bring 10-15 photographs of recent photo opportunities on a flash drive or CD, for review and discussion, time permitting.
