The new year is upon us and it’s time to get together for our first meeting of 2017. We will have a brief presentation on Topaz Impression post-processing software by Bob Green,  and a round table discussion on the club’s future. We will also allow time for showing personal photos for viewing and critiquing. So bring your jump drives with a dozen of your best winter and holiday photos. The meeting will take place on Wednesday evening, January 11th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church on 434 Lewis Street.

The next meeting of the Pagosa Springs Photography Club will be Wednesday evening, November 9, at the Community United Methodist Church on Lewis Street. The meeting will begin at 6:00 pm with light refreshments and a short business meeting, followed by a presentation by Herb Grover at 6:30 pm.

Recently (semi) retired as a professor of biology from Wayland Baptist University, Herb spent about 6 weeks in Kenya in 2010 teaching life science to Kenyan students pursuing university degrees through Wayland. Herb’s photo journal of his time in Kenya will focus on his experience with the Kenyan students, as well as several safaris to Nairobi National Park; Lake Nakuru National Park; Mt. Kenya National Park; LeWa Conservancy; and the Maasi Mara National Park. As is the tradition for the club, following the formal presentation members of the club are invited to share a sampling of their favorite photos with those present.

Our October meeting is fast approaching. We will be getting together again at the Methodist Church, 434 Lewis Street, on Wednesday the 12th. Long time member, John Farley, will be sharing and leading a discussion on photos he took on a recent trip to Greece. Start showing up around 6:00 for socializing, followed by a short business meeting at 6:30. John’s presentation will follow. Lastly, time permitting, members can bring 10-12 photos on a thumb drive to share with the group for critique and enjoyment.

Andy Butler will lead the discussion “Editing by Committee” at the Photography Club’s next meeting to be held Wednesday, Sept. 14th in the fellowship room of the United Methodist Church. Join us at 6:oopm for some socializing followed by the meeting at 6:30pm Each member is encouraged to bring a flash drive of 10-12 pictures to share with the group-time permitting. The Photo Club of Pagosa Springs meets on the second Wednesday of every month at the Methodist Church on 434 Lewis Street in downtown Pagosa Springs. On the 10th of August we will begin our meeting with socializing at 6:00 PM and a short business update at 6:30. Our guest speaker this month is Barbra Jetley. She will be sharing her photos and experiences from a recent trip to Okinawa, Japan. There will be time for members to share some of their latest shots with the group, so bring 10-12 photos on a thumb drive for review and critique. See you on the 10th.

Our next meeting will be a week from today on Wednesday, the 13th at the Methodist Church. We start at 6:00 p.m. with set-up and socializing, followed by any updates and new business. We do not have a presentation this session so bring your latest and greatest photos for viewing and critiquing. Hopefully we’ll have some from the waterfall/wildflower’s excursion this Saturday.
