The Pagosa Springs Photography Club will meet on Wednesday, January  10, at the Community United Methodist Church, 434 Lewis St. Join us for socializing at 6 p.m., followed by a brief business meeting at 6:30 p.m. before our program. Tonight’s speaker will be club member Bob Green, presenting a program entitled Get it Right in Camera!

The three creative disciplines of photography are vision, capture technique and post-processing (manipulating the digital file to enhance the image). “Get It Right in Camera!” will devote 90% of the time to capture technique and 10% to post-processing with the goal of providing a blueprint for producing the best exposed and sharpest images. The talk will be illustrated with camera LCD displays and explicit instructions for setting various features on a Nikon DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera. Most other DSLRs will have the same functional settings, perhaps with slightly different labels. Many newer model “fixed-lens” cameras, commonly known as “point-and-shoot” cameras, will also have many of the same capabilities as DSLRs. DLSR or point-and-shoot, the audience should come away with a better understanding of the digital photographic process from a technical standpoint and how to make better images by optimizing your camera’s settings.
