Waterfalls and Wildflowers Outing

Happy Fourth of July! I am planning a photo club outing to shoot waterfalls, wildflowers and mountain scenery this Saturday, July 9. There are several nice waterfalls not too far off the highway this side of Wolf Creek Pass. These will require a short walk, less than a mile total, to see 3 or 4 falls. However, it is off-trail, so wear good walking shoes. We’ll spend some time near the waterfalls, then go on up near the pass to photograph some more wildflowers and mountain vistas. Meet at 8:30 AM, at Tractor Supply at the east end of Pagosa Springs to car pool. We should be back to town by 2 PM or so. If you have any questions, e-mail me directly (abutler@mac.com) or call 512-581-1470 (cell).

Although not a club outing, if any of you are heading through Blanding,UT, there is currently a great exhibit of photos by Boulder-area photographer Bob Maynard, titled “Ancient skies through ancient eyes”. The photos are primarily night-scapes taken at various Ancestral Pueblo sites. The exhibit will be through at least the end of this year, at the Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum in Blanding. If you haven’t been to this museum, it’s one of the best for Ancestral Pueblo (Anasazi) culture in the Four Corners area.
